Hi. You may know me as AST Evan. Soon, I'll be stepping off of staff to be a regular old player again. When I do so, I'll be looking for someone interesting in playing a long term ghoul concept.
Having my concept ok'd by the staff, I will be playing a gruff, mechanically and politically inclined character who is a member of clan Gangrel (if such things are important to you). We can talk long term goals and other personal details if you are interested, but suffice to say the character will be involved in city level politics and active weekly in interacting with other characters (and thus any PC ghoul would also have these opportunities).
So if you've been thinking to yourself [green]"Self, playing a ghoul might be an awesome way to spend the next 6 months or year at ECC. Hell, I might even get embraced IC and end up playing this character for grips!"[/green] then please think of me when you are pondering which domitor to seek out.
Some specifics I'm excited about regardless of concept you want to play:
1. Having frequent assignments, both long and short term for this ghoul. As a player, I am very receptive to specific stories you might want to tell and will work with you to fold those in and make sure your job is not to simply sit around Elysium for me. Do note, sometimes these assignments might be "deliver this letter" or "follow this person" or something like that if necessary but certainly could also be any bit of intrigue or appropriate excitement we come up with.
2. Explore the concept of the ghoul/domitor relationship. Specifically; ghouls are generally brought into being to provide skills and understanding the domitor does not have. This means that while subservient due to the blood bond, the ghoul is more capable than the domitor in some fashion. Couple that with the protective air the blood bond generally lends, this can lead to some amazing role play for both of the players as these social boundaries are tested.
3. The concept of ghoul as property in a public setting versus the perception of the ghoul as favored confidant or ally in private. I'm not interested in playing out an abusive domitor/ghoul relationship and think that trying to 'keep up appearances' of aloof disdain or simply viewing the ghoul as a tool publicly while trusting this ally on a personal level are interesting. Of course, much of that would need to evolve via role play.
Some things I am not interested in roleplaying:
1. A deep romantic relationship between regnant and ghoul. Yeah, the bloodbond makes you love the regnant. That love does not need to be erotic. Ghouls can just as easily view domitors as parents, brothers or simply as 'master' without falling to this particular story. It's an interesting facet of the relationship, just not one I'm up for playing.
2. Bumbling, mischievous, violently homicidal or otherwise ridiculously unstable ghoul that the domitor has to clean up after all the time. Again, some interesting role play can come out of this, but I'm not interested in stories that end with 'and hilarity ensues' at this time.
3. Riding the ghoul train to XP town. While I'll gladly work with anyone who wants to play a short term concept to bank some XP, I am hoping the person interested in this ghoul match up will want to drop some XP into the ghoul, flesh him or her out over the long term and work towards an eventual embrace or logical conclusion to the ghoul's story.
In any case, if you are excited to ghoul it up for a few months attached to a character involved in Camarilla Politics and long term plots, feel free to PM me at this account or drop an e-mail to elouscher AT gmail DOT com.
Thanks for reading!
