Snacks & Beverages:
It has been proposed that snacks and beverages would be a welcome addition to the playspace, so for a period of three months during the outdoor time, a snack bar will be established on a trial basis, in part to serve as a central location for NOTR outside, and to provide players with refreshment between games. (Maybe even to make a little money, too!)
Because NOTR has to pay taxes on things we sell, the snack bar is donation based, with suggested donation prices to reflect our desire to net a gain, without breaking anyone’s pocketbooks. NOTR will buy snacks and drinks in bulk, based on a poll of the EC player base’s most favorite types of snack and beverages, and provide them at an equidistant location between the spheres from 9pm -11pm on game nights.
The Twist: The Snack Bar at the End of the Universe
The snack bar itself would be a free roleplay space, completely unrelated to any sphere at EC. It would be based on a compilation of sci-fi and fantasy bars: gritty noir, gothic, cyber, mediaval, faerie, whatever. The volunteer for the evening would be the narrator, and there would be no consecutive timeline at all. Each time a person walks into the Snack Bar at the End of the Universe, he/she may become any character they like (except current EC characters of any sphere) while inside, but has never been there before, and will never be able to find it again (or at least not remember the other times if they do), so that each entry is a new experience, not tied to any of the games at EC, or even to another night in the Snack Bar. The only real rule will be NO COMBAT EVAR, or the magic bouncer flings you back to the World of Darkness.
This fulfills multiple purposes. It allows that the volunteer is not sitting around bored for 2 hours too far away from their own sphere to interact. It allows players who are waiting for an ST or a scene to have someplace interesting to waste, i mean, spend 15 minutes, and it ads a fun quirk to your snack obtaining adventures, hopefully drawing enough people over to make the snack bar worth having around.
It should be noted, however, that RP is not required to be in the snack-bar (we just think it's fun), you can come in as yourself, "buy" a snack or drink and go or hang out ooc with anyone else who wants to be ooc with you.
At the end of 3 months, the cost/benefit of the snack bar will be examined so we can decide whether to keep it or junk it. The snack bar must at least break even to be considered for a permanent addition to the services provided by NOTR. Please keep this in mind when you come by to pick out your refreshments.
