Howdy folks,
We'll go over these at game tonight as well but here is what we came up with for adjusting systems to best suit the new difficulty system our staff introduced this year:
1. Investigations: No changes at this time. Investigation types and system are in line with current difficulty modifiers. We will keep monitoring use of this system and are certainly open to alteration if it becomes apparent that one is necessary.
2. Crafts: We are lowering the number of successes needed to complete a craft project by 2 across the board.
This means a non-mastercraft ultra-rare item (such as a +5 suite of armor or a weapon that does str +5 damage) will require 4 successes to complete.
An ultra-rare mastercraft item such as a +5 suit if armor that has a lowered dex penalty or a str+5 greatsword that functions at -1 diff will require 7 successes to complete.
Crafting times are not changing.
Finally, items can now be crafted in a single night or single scene. To crank out a fast-crafted regular item (masterworks CANNOT be made this way), move it 2 spaces up the rarity chart (meaning that rare and ultra-rare items cannot be crafted in a night and the number of required successes increases by 2).
Improvised common and uncommon items can also be made at +1 rarity but will likely last for a single scene before breaking down or ceasing to function (just like in MacGuiver ) at storyteller discretion.
3. Finance: Chart A: Successes remains the same (so a maximum of 25% return of investment can be expected at 7+ Successes gained).
Cart B: Investment Difficulty has been changed to the following:
10,000-50,000: Diff 6
50,001-100,000: Diff 7
100,001-1,000,000: Diff 8
1,000,001-2,000,000: Diff 9
2,000,001-3,000,000: Diff 10
Investing more than $3,000,000 in a short term, high risk/high yield fund is something that individuals cannot do. Utilize the Finance Influence or go in with some investment partners to invest larger sums.
As before, this kind of investment utilizes loopholes in current investment law and operates in a gray area of legality. This is the kind of investing that led to the sub-prime market crash of mid 2006 and the current financial state of the US.
Please expect some review of these system changes over the next couple of months as necessary as well as a chance to give us feedback about them in the upcoming March player poll.
All staff members will have copies of the new rules on hand at game.
Thanks!
