The portents were not hopeful for the Wyld nine that night:
Twister, Volcano and Earthquake came ready for the fight,
But upon arrival a daunting sight greeted our eyes,
broken defenses and hordes of formori on the rise.
A straggling few were there to meet us at the caern. The Get
were dead or dying, their caernstone under grievous threat.
We looked out upon the creatures, those twisted and insane:
a giant Thunder Wyrm, a host of formori and banes.
The defenders told us what you want to attack most is that:
A strange cloth pavilion, upon the Thunder Wyrm it sat.
So on that stricken battlefield we went to start things right.
Razor-tongue and I howled our packs' arrival to the fight.
One Ton let fly a boulder, to the wonderment of all,
we all were waiting eagerly, to see where it would fall.
But as it flew towards the wyrm, something shattered its stony girth,
a harmless rain of pebbles cascaded down upon the earth.
Orion had a quick idea, and used a gift to turn,
the ground beneath the thunder wyrm, into something that would burn.
Razor-tongue lit the earth aflame, the wyrm caught in the heat,
One Ton threw another rock, to make the attack complete.
But as the rock descended, the flames rose up, reaching high,
and a massive gout of fire launched towards us through the sky.
The fire ball flew towards One Ton, he braced and stood resolute,
holding up his shield, a bright red one-finger salute.
The fire shattered on his shield, and rained harmlessly away,
how to actually affect the wyrm, none of us could say.
There was fury in One Ton's manner, as he drew his shield down;
There was power in One Ton's bearing, stubbornness in his frown.
From where we stood our attacks against the wyrm were denied,
We needed to bring the hurt right to the creature's scaly side.
The solution was obvious, Orion voiced it aloud,
so One Ton threw our brother forward, above the formori crowd.
And next the enraged Black Fury was spiraled through the air,
followed quickly by Makes No Sense, to join her fighting there.
Close by the Thunder Wyrm, the three Garou went to attack,
but magic crackled through the air, vile darkness forced them back.
Against banes and formori we defended the Get fort,
killing off the enemies and providing needed support.
Vacili fought valiantly, with knife and M16,
Sue shot arrows then blinked out to fight our foes while unseen,
Alex called forth spirits of wind, fire and crystal stone,
Astrid used her gifts, to heal hurts of flesh and bone.
Orion, Razor-tongue and Makes No Sense battled fierce against our prey
One Ton raised his mighty gauntlet and went charging through the fray,
But as they pounded weapons and claws into the evil beast,
from the pavilion another blast of magic was released.
A deep and twisted darkness, from the Abyss it was composed,
it smashed into my brother and in the void he was enclosed.
For me the world slammed to a stop, no motion, not a sound,
The anger faded from One Ton's face, and he fell to the ground.
Makes No Sense delivers the final blow, the Thunder wyrm dies.
Orion speeds towards the exposed foe, rage burning in his eyes.
The Mage in the pavilion could bend mother nature's laws,
but he could not save himself from my brother's angry jaws.
The wyrm was killed, the Mage no more, the banes and formori fled,
we had vanquished all the foes and the caern was now protected.
The Get of Fenris were grateful, Gaia's work had been preserved,
our actions bravely accomplished the purpose that we served.
Oh, somewhere in this sacred land the sun is shining bright;
The waters singing softly, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere wolves are howling and somewhere spirits soar,
But there is no joy for Deep Skies – mighty One Ton is no more.
