Grettings my fellow LARPers, this is DJ JamminPanda, and i'll be spinning the up coming formal event.

Now i've done some cons, i'd done these events. Now i'm gonna need a set up and tear down crew.

So i'm taking volunteers at this moment, I do believe my comrade in arms, DJ Brightwyrm is gonna give a hand, but I need more peeps

I've got some volunteers but the more the merrier

So if you know the difference between and XLR cord and RCA cord... ever better

Also I'd like to know what type of format you all want.

Bloody and Aggressive- So i'm talking some serious Darkwave Industrial Stuff. KMFDM, NIN, Stabbing Westward, Lords of Acid, Gravity Kills, Sister Machine Gun, Machines of Loving Grace, Prodigy (although I put that under my dance catergory as well)

Down Tempo Lounge- We are talking some serious shoegazer stuff here, you know cocteou twins, Supreme Beings of Leisure, Enya remixes (no straight up Enya, i'll feel like i'm in a hydrotherapy for my colon) sneaker pimps,

Trance/Dance/Electronica this is my bread, this is my buttah, I would like nothing more than to spin some Ian Van Dahl, Paul Oakenfold, Crystal Method and Chemical Brothers

80's- This is what I cut my teeth on yo If you all wanna take a time tunnel back to voodoo economics and parachute pants with a little old school wave, this is the place to be. Mullets must be checked at the door.

Romance-ok.. for all of you love birds out there. If there is that special song that you absolutely need to have between you and that special someone. So you can gaze into their eyes and get lost in each other's gentle caresses that only souls can do.......

Well, while for just enjoyment most of the categories you mentioned are great. Yet... Out of curiosity, and not ensue the wrath of the Saliva Coated Icepick Considering this is a High Society Ball... Wouldn't something of a toned down/classical nature be more appropriate to the atmosphere?

I think the downtempo chillout/lounge music would both be cool and classy. I don't think a high society event is the right place for top 40 new wave hits of the 80s and Goth industrial, and as much as the techno/house library you have kicks ass, It's still not really apporpriate.

So I vote the Chillout/Lounge Spy mix.

I'll have to go with Chris with this one. It all sounds really cool, especially the various 80s and techno options, but the chilled out lounge music sounds just right

At the risk of being ice picked, you realize you'll have to play one or two of the romantic songs. Doesn't mean it all has to be that way.

As for the rest, I'm with Chris. Chillout music would be the best for the base, with other song requests mixed in for flavor.

You dont have to go to the extreme of sleepy lounge to have good music appropriate to this event, slow songs would be more appropriate, but you can pull things such as the love song from titanic, some of the 70s and 80's slow songs would work also, but still mix some other stuff into it or no one will be dancing.
