Over the ten or eleven years that this LARP that we all enjoy has existed, it has been known by many names, from The Ave Rat game, to Fuzzie's game, The Red Square Game, to Seattle by Night, to Seattle by Choice.
Reasons for these changes have been many and varied. Sometimes it was just what was commonly known, sometimes it was tongue in cheek, sometimes it was a political statement against other games that players or STs broke away from.
For whatever the reason, the game has grown and changed over time and the name has sometimes changed to reflect this. It looks like one of those times has come again.
Corey, the previous webmonkey who both owns the domain of seattlebychoice.com and hosts it on his own server, has not for many months been able to respond in any way to changes needed and expressed by the storytellers or players, or extensive downtimes that occured for many weeks off and on that ultimately got us to move to the new proboards system. Storytellers, staff an players have tried to contact him to buy the domain from him many times, and he has not responded back at all, leaving us to fend for ourselves.
With that in mind the staff has been chatting about creating a new central website to link all the other pages together and merge with the message boards, much like the old Seattlebychoice.com page used to.
So now we leave it to you, the players to help pick the new name for our website, and ultimately, the game that you play and love. Names have power, and the power is yours. This does not need to be the final discussion about this, and the suggestions above are by no means the only possibilities out there. we're just getting the ball rolling so we can move forward as a game.
PS: If anyone *does* think they can get ahold of Corey and convince him to hand over the reigns to the domain, we'll even buy it from him.
