We received a complaint about Oct 6th. It also seems there was some miscommunication about where ppl should go to smoke. So here's the official skinny (until the BGC says otherwise).
Stay away from the "front" or 45th st side, for any reason. We come and go via the gym on 46th st side or "back", and should not be in the courtyard or out front at all. Those doors should be locked. If you find they are not, please let an ST or NOTR rep know.
Last year, smokers stood around the BGC back parking lot, and in front of the art mosaic store and we got no complaints, so for now, we'd like to revert to last year's smoking strategy.
I know the post office is tempting for private scenes, but there are apartments over there, that don't really look like apartments, so its probably best to just stay on the bgc side of the street.
We need to work together to keep the nosy neighbors from having a reason to complain, we did it last year, we can do it again!
We will also post the following on the back door as a reminder:
"If you want to be outside for ANY reason,
please be respectful of the neighbors.
Keep the noise down, and stay off any property
that isn't BGC or clearly public.
Stay on the 46th St side of the BGC.
If you want to smoke, do the above and also
stand 25 ft from the door and throw your butts
in the trash, not on the ground.
Don't give the neighbors a reason to complain."
And would appreciate it if everyone can help everyone remember to be quiet and respectful of the property and the neighborhood. Remind each other when outside, etc.
