Hello again to my Fae Peoples!
It is time again for a little bit of World Setting education.
Today's topic: Arts, and who "should" have them.
In Changeling Arts are how Fae do magic. There are many different kinds, and some of them are special. Some of them are specific to a kith, while others are secreted away by certain Houses and Secret Societies. This does not mean that you cant learn these special Arts, it just means that these groups don't want you to. And might come after you in a variety of ways to try to make an example of you and keep their monopoly of power.
Here is a list of the Special Arts, who has them, and how secret they are.
Chicanery: It is a Low Art, one known by Commoners. It is not forbidden for noble's to know it, but it is considered distasteful by other noble's if you do.
Chronos: This is one of the most closely guarded secret Arts of a Secret Society, and the House Scathach. Many have been killed for knowing it.
Infusion: Is a Nocker Art, and Due to strong ties with the Nockers, an Art of House Dougal. They are not likely to get violent if you learn it, but will instead make your life hell.
Kryos: Known by the Trolls. If you did not learn it from another Troll due to some great act of Honor, they will see you as a dishonorable Fae, and treat you accordingly.
Metamorphosis: Is another Commoner Art that is disdained by the Noble's, but is more closely protected than Chicanery. If they know you have it, it will cause issues.
Naming: Is only known by a secret noble Society, and a few of the most powerful of each kith. If they find out you have it, they can bring a lot of political power to bear on you.
Sovereign: A Noble Art that Commoners are not forbidden from having, but nobles will look at you with distrust and suspicion for having it.
Spirit Link: An Art of the Nunnehi. The "only way" to learn it is by joining the Nunnehi Nation. If you somehow have it, and you are not part of their Nation, they torture you horribly, then kill you.
I hope this helps people understand how differnent groups see their Arts. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Laters,
Jason
