Alrighty, lemme see if I can help with this one too.
I would say that the question, 'how do the PCs rid themselves of demons IC when they pop-up?' is the wrong context to put this in. That should be part of any rules set, but so should other things such as giving access to players that want to pursue this sort of thing. To simply say, here's how you kill the demons isn't necessarily fair to the interests of those players who don't necessarily want to kill demons or those that want to involve them in their own plots.
Part of this game has been dealing with the inevitable staff changeovers and inconsistencies with rules calls between each staff. Seans team went a long way in trying to standardize a lot of systems for ECC so that future staffs have a base line to look back at and use, or change, or what have you. Almost all of these changes were voted on by the majority of the player base, so in essence were what the majority of the player base wanted. We feel the need to apply that to this particular aspect as well.
We have had no less then 4 different players approach this staff over the last few weeks with different ideas/questions/concerns on how to get rid of the demons or how to interact with demons and we figured it would be best if we came up with something cohesive for all of the player base to see. The cross-sphere was already in place and we needed to provide the players with a system for involving them or getting rid of them.
At the end of the day, it's the players choice as to what should and should not be in game. Aspects of Demon the Fallen is in game right now, does the player base want to have a set of rules and guidelines for dealing with these creatures for now and potentially in the future or do they want to shove them on the wayside and return to more traditional Vampiric 'demonic influences', if any. We are simply providing the options and letting players decide.
Players have been insistent on chasing these creatures down, automatically treating them as antagonists or seeking their aid, there needs to be rules for these creatures to abide by on the part of Storytellers and rules that players can use to effect them in order for us to come to any reasonable story conclusion.
I'm hoping this helps answer your question, we really want to make sure everything is out in the open regarding all this business and that all the players questions get answered.
