Across the Velvet curtain, shadowy forests and rushing waters are backed by a high, craggy, tree covered Plateau which gives the spirit world a majestic eeriness. The Umbral air is redolent with moisture as fog and mist spirits glide through the realm, obscuring the vision and imparting a heaviness to those who travel in this other world.
In the world of man, the Caern lies Along the Sammamish River and is obscured by old growth evergreens. The area of the Caern has been strengthened along the North, East, and South sides. Climbing paths have been removed and false, unstable features have been added. The West side is high along the the north and south edges but slopes in the middle to allow a steep passage up the center. This allows the Caern to be highly defensible.
This is not the first Caern to occupy this place. 20,000 years ago early pure ones settled here after the great migration. All that is known is that a terrible threat took away their highest in rank and the Caern fell soon afterwards.
