(ooc: this conversation happened through email between Kain and I, just posting it now for your viewing pleasure.)
Thorfin walks up to Tak, looking extremely serious. He nods respectfully, "Tak Rhya, I would like to say something, something I have prepared specially in the attempt to make my intentions as clear as possible. If I may?"
He clears his throat and begins a formal, expressive, and practiced speech.
"I have come to respect many things about you, and, if this next part isn't known then I have been failing at my job, we appreciate the patience and effort you have had with our actions and views which must seem so completely foreign to you. I think though that we are both coming to the conclusion that simply telling each other our opinions, oftain times laced with a certain sneer or as you might say "face palm", over and over will do nothing to help anyone without a real conversation.
I see an opportunity here for... understanding if nothing else. First, let it be known that I, nor any of my pack, feel the need for your understanding, however, I respect you, and you deserve to see the rational behind this pack's actions, who have caused you much pain and annoyance. It would be beneficial to both of us for you to know that your pain for the humans we have killed has not gone unnoticed. Also, I will admit, part of my motive here is to help and... change the concept that we are nothing more than simple, stupid beasts who revel in the slaughter of innocent humans.
I will say this and I think you can appreciate where I am coming from, and if not then I have misjudged and please stop me now, that while it is easy to the social rules of our people are the glue that binds us together and prevents us from killing each other off, they are not always the best rules to follow when seeking a true understanding of another. So, with that said, would you join me for this discussion, a discussion not between two proud Garou of different ranks, but simply between to peers, peers in that we are both thinking, feeling beings."
He stops now and slightly bows his head, in a proud but respectful way, letting Tak absorb what he has said and waiting for a response, making it obvious to see that he will accept her decision negative or positive.
"Oh-kay... Well, I usually only do the "proud Garou" routine because
its the only thing most people around here respect. You may have
noticed that I don't enforce Rank either unless I'm making a specific
point.
"That said, you and your pack are the first outside my own to thank me
for efforts that are not related to killing things, let alone to offer
me a gift, so I don't think you have failed in making sure I
understand your appreciation.
"I follow Minerva, not just because she was chosen by my pack, but all
my life unknowingly, I've sought to gain and share knowledge and
understanding, so sure, lets talk like people."
Thorfin, about to move to a more comfortable spot for a long conversation, suddenly reaches for the phone vibrating in his back pocket, and quickly glances at it. (If you have good empathy or perception you can see he looks excited and pleased at what he reads, but is trying to hide it) he looks back at Tak,
"That is good, and we will... however, something has just come up at my home, and I need to go, but I will be back this coming week, and we will have our talk... I look forward to it." As he begins to jog away, he pauses and looks back, "The necklace, it looks good on you."
before jumping onto his motorcycle and speeding off.
