"Why"
The dark room, too dark to even see, felt blinding. Even though he sat alone, in the empty house, he spoke to the young girl that was at his side.
...
"How could you just leave? Everyone, even you knew that this would happen. You knew he was NEVER to be trusted"
A bottle fell from his hand, almost in slow motion. He reached for the bottle and threw it at the wall.
~CRASH~
It shattered, and he smiled.
...
"Why didn't you tell me to take the shot. I mean you know I would have, if not for you I would have died along time ago. I own you my life, Maya. I couldn't have stopped it, but would have died trying if you'd have let me. The good that man has brought to us, is far out weighed by the bad"
...
She leaned over and touched his face with one hand.
"You know I'm not gone for good, and two wrongs don't make a right."
"But three lefts do!" a tear fell from his face were her hand touched it. He laughed lightly.
...
"See this." he pointed at his face. "I stop laughing for one minute and I can't even control the other emotions. That man, who has brought corruption and death into our midst dares to call us the bringers of Wyrm."
...
He raised a glass to her, and drank deeper then he thought was possible. Finally he threw the glass to the side and hunched over, placing his head in his hands.
...
"I wanted to believe in you, but I saw my world crumbling around me. Then you were gone, and they wouldn't let me talk to you. I DON'T UNDERSTAND! WHY?" He yelled.
...
"I cant tell you that." she said standing.
"I know, but that doesn't mean that I don't want an answer." He said standing with her. "Everything you did for these people, and not one of them tried to stop him. I will fly to the order of Hermes and tell them of what you have done for fera everywhere. I will sing your praise until I KNOW they hear me."
...
He fell to his knees, and for a minute it was all he do to keep the tears as quiet as possible.
...
He tried to stand, but fell again. He sobbed.
"He won the fight, you won the war. Maybe now they will see that he has no honor, that he would kill ANY of them if it suited his agenda."
...
"Maybe, someday, they will see how truly broken and corrupted that challenge really was."
He shoved the tears down and and laughed much harder than he meant to. She stared at him quizzical.
...
"You know, when I talk to the dead, normally their body is next to me? I have no doubt that you are only a manifestation of my over powering grief."
She smiled up at him, then like smoke, in sunlight through a crack in a fence, she swirled into nothing.
