Morgan opened the book and stared at the blank page before she began to write.
The Guilty.
I feel little remorse for the death of the Gurahl. I thought I'd feel worse if she died but there was nothing. I suppose I quit caring long ago about the loss of my friends. I knew when they debated about the terms she should decline. I would have. Challenging Garou is risky for even the most skilled opponents. Her death though tragic was in my eyes an accident.
She had asked for the use of no silver, Lightbringer had declined for reasons unknown. Strange then how her first blow used it. She intended to kill him if she could. She spoke of how he needed to be brought down in the weeks prior though in confidence. I was unconcerned with the empty threats until I saw her draw blood. She had provoked him and no Ahroun would back down seeing his death drawing near.
She should have submitted then. Saved herself when she saw his rage building and had shown herself a capable foe. There is nothing wrong with an honorable surrender even when you initiated the challenge. She thought she could beat him, what a silly arrogant woman.
Did he mean to kill her? Was that his intent? I doubt it but it was speculation unless I looked into it. The Uktena are much like the Shadow Lords. If he had wanted her dead he'd have followed her to her den and murdered her while the rest of us slumbered. I'd never willingly be kin to a murderer. Lightbringer was no fool to kill her while we watched, when he could otherwise get away with it. The only thing he was guilty of was being too great a warrior and an honorable man.
But then again I am no Philodox or even Garou. My words are just those of kin and they seldom matter.
She closed the book and shoved it back into her bag.
