Feb. 3rd, 2011
Mat sits in a rather well furnished library. The shelves are stocked with a massive number of books, some appearing very old; complete with leather binding. His worn journal is below the quickly moving raven quill. He is shirtless and a fire roars in the fireplace off to his side. The script is, as usual these days, in that curved ancient from known to only a few.
Bloody blood and bloody ashes. What in the Light was that? First of all, great party, really. A few games of charades and the "cock fight" between that Finn (Light, I about ran out right there, that name) and Rene. I'm sorry, but it seems to crew here are pretty much horrible at throwing a do. Where was the singing? Where was the dancing? The recitals to rival a gleeman? Nowhere that's where. It doesn't help that more than half the bloody freehold was off "taking care" of Light knows what and then came back with depression enough to kill the celebration. Lenka's dead. Then some ten minutes later: Oh wait, no he's not. You'd think that would be enough to make things merry... but no. Still, the same boring atmosphere. Light, I should've just stayed out from it. At least, I could go out and have some real fun. A club would have dancing, music, and drinking beyond compare. Maybe I could've found a companion for the night. Well, at least that last I was able to get regardless of the garbage of the Bard's Day "festival." At least a few of the glamorous people were out that late. A movie, some food, and then to bed with each other. That was my Bard's Festival. Light. Vegas knew how to throw a party.
Oh, and then the Grand Finale. Balefire gets stolen by something. No one can figure it out, oh no. It's all over. The world's going to end. Bad things will happen if we don't get it back, oh dear.
Mat shakes his head and sighs.
You know, yeah, I know it's a bad omen if the Balefire isn't renewed; but seriously, I'm pretty sure things are bloody messed up already. Bad omen? We probably wouldn't notice regardless. And then the fear set in. Not heavy just there in the back of my head. Oh wait... where did Anthem go? Oh Light no. She's just with one of the most dangerous (only because he's informed) members of the Freehold. She'll be fine, really. Luckily she was, brought the Balefire back even. Good for her. I suppose I was pretty harsh on her. Still, I can't talk to her right now. I need to take a vacation. Erzabeth never said anything about hitting the casinos around here. Maybe go up to Lake Stevens or Snohomish, there's that new place is see on the TV up there. Also got Tulalip place up near Marysville. Yeah, the Shaw fund is needing a new influx. Need to get away from all this. I suppose I should check in with Elaine. Helen.... I'll make it a short trip, two or three days. Sheila, Elaine, Morgan, Bridgette. That sounds like a good group to talk to. Everyone else... meh. I'd include Anthem but again, I'm still a bit miffed. That's the primary reason for this trip. I don't want to blow up at her at the first sight.
I do have that Sluagh to hear from. She seems like a valuable font of info. Or at least that's what Lenka says about her. I'm not going to doubt anything til she and I have our first lesson. Light, for a Sluagh she was bloody attractive. I'd think of dancing with her if it wasn't for the usual Sluagh thing. Although, sitting next to her wasn't that bad. Maybe I'll offer a dance anyway. Be interesting to see how she is at that. Heh, probably better than I am. I'm pretty a bit rusty at it, but we'll see won't we.
Mat sits back and rubs his hand across the goatee he's been nursing. Then he scowls and leans back to the journal.
Redcaps. Just when I start to gain a bit of... not really respect, but something close to liking. One of them sends it back down. Ed, throwing scandal at the honor of a Gwydion is not a good idea. Having to have a high ranking sidhe use Sovereign to the Gwydion from killing you is an even worse one. Finally, doing it in front of her Knight who is not under the affects of Sovereign is the worst. Especially when he is armed with many knives that he is adept at throwing. I thought of outright killing you there. I had a good shot at your throat. But I gave it second thought because it was Erzabeth's freehold. So I opted for something to get your attention. It seemed to do the job well enough. Even better it got me points with my Baroness. As for Erzabeth, she got in my face but I really don't care. She can go have some fun with the stick up her ass for all I care. I pay her what I owe, but that's as far as I want to do with her now.
Well, that's all I got for now, time to pack. I'll see what's going on in a few weeks. I doubt anything important is going to go on this coming week. We'll see.
Mat sets the quill aside and closes the book. He grabs the set of knives of the table and the arm loader next to them and heads out of the room. He twists a dial beside the fireplace and the fire slowly dims to nothing. He closes the door, sliding the light switch off before the door completely shuts leaving the room in darkness.
