Mat seems to be a bit worn. The light pouring from the windows is muted but still gives enough illuminate the his study. He sets the quill to the journal and starts to write this time in simple English text.
Sheila's here. That alone makes all the pain and frustration melt away. For the most part. The remaining portion is being taken away through other means. My trial run of Muninn proved to be ineffective and yet incredibly enlightening. At the same time it was incredibly painful. But I needed a new direction and that's what it gave me. I only hope that my actions will proved satisfactory to my benefactor.
Carnival was just as fun as everything else around here has been.
The beginning events aren't important. They hold little if any necessary place in my memory. Thus they will not be discussed. Lenka was taken. Apparently the Balor decided he needed to be tried. I imagine this went similar to those trials in the Harry Potter books and movies. In other words, a joke. In another freehold some other Baron, Erzabeth's soon to be husband, was attacked. The culmination of both her loves involved in aggression made Erzabeth seem even more erratic. Fainting and falling and running around like a chicken with her head cut off. (No offense meant Ed.) Clearly this meant trouble all around. Rene, Ulrim, and Anthem went to be "witnesses" to Lenka's name. Elaine gathered everyone else together to go on a back door attack on the Balor courthouse to rescue the man. In my opinion this was a bad idea. The three going off was more than enough to handle things. Again, I was right. All in all, it seems that only one of them needed to go.
Well, the group that went in from the back ended up encountering resistance from some yetis and some Glamour vacuums in the guise of bunny rabbits. Kind of overkill with two Redcaps, a super Eshu, and another super thing--this one a satyr. Even Helen seemed quite overshadowed. Again, a bad idea all in all. I got to yell in the face of a yeti though, so that's something. When we got to the compound Rene was waiting for us, wearing the body of some giant snake thing. I swear he was a fucking naga with electricity coming off of him. Lenka looked drugged but coherent and asked why we were even there. Ungrateful son of a bitch.
Anyway, we returned to the Freehold and Queen Fucked Up In The Head shows up. Dramatically appropriate I think. Basic rundown, Lenka was stupid and shouldn't be here. He goes up North into Everett, former Count in Everett gets a promotion to Duke, Erzabeth demoted to Knight (should've happened a long time ago in my opinion) and sent off with Lenka and then Elaine tossed into Lenka's place. As I've said, we're of the same House and she seems a very competent leader. Even though she seems to think the current setup is efficient, she's liable to see that some changes need to be made. There is little to no cohesion here. We'll see how she shakes things up.
As for me, right now I want to spend some much needed quality time with my wife. She goes home tomorrow so we're needing to pack as much fun in the day as we can. So it seems there's shopping, movie, lunch, and a nice private dinner all today. As long as she has a good time I'll be happy. Just being with her is enough for me. Being a soldier and making a place here, making an actual start here, can wait.
Mat closes the journal, resets his quill, and takes the book in his hand. His mood seems to have brightened conciderably and his face wears a smile as he closes the door.
