Fetish Creation
The process of making a fetish is unique. It’s not as simple and mechanical as making a sword, a house, or even a computer. You are making a vessel that a spirit will be living in. In some ways you are making a body for this spirit. And if you want the spirit to agree, it will need to be just right. This is where the Rite of the Fetish comes in. Those who know this Rite know how to prepare the vessel and entice the spirit in. Every Tribe will have different traditional ways to make their fetishes, but the basics are the same. Over time you must prepare this spirits new home. Many use carvings, runes, cleansings, singing to it, and many other acts that make the vessel appealing. During this time the Rite Master must prove that they are worthy to make this Fetish. These acts must be in line with the spirit to be housed and the purpose of the Fetish. If all goes well, you will have a new ally in your fight against the Wyrm.
Creation Rules
• A Fetish requires a minimum time, and Steps to create. The level of the Fetish +1 in weeks and Steps.
• If it is a Tribal Fetish it takes 1 more Step/week.
• Any Theurge making a Fetish needs 1 less Step/week to succeed.
• You can only make a Fetish up to 2 levels higher than your rank. The minimum rank to make a level 5 Fetish is rank 3.
• All Steps must be worthy of your rank.
• All of your Steps must be decided and written down on a Fetish card before you start to make the Fetish. (You only need the type of each Step, not the details of it) An St must also approve these steps, and sign the card.
• It does not matter what order you do your Steps in.
• Only half (round up) of your steps can be of the same type.
• The shapes of Fetishes will be more flexible than what is in the books. If you want a Klaive spear, axe, or hammer, that is now doable. A book could be an IPhone, or helmet becomes a hat. System will not change for the Fetish. Also, the purpose of the Fetish should stay the same. If it has an intrinsic flaw, like a mask needing to be worn, than that should be kept in mind when a shape is decided.
• Location is now flexible for Scar Fetishes. Scar Fetishes that affect one location (like your hands), can now instead affect a different location. (Forehead, feet, mouth.)
• Location is now flexible for Claw Fetishes. Claw Fetishes can now instead be on lower claws or teeth.
• Any elemental Fetish can now express a different element when created. Example: Fire can instead be electricity, cold, or darkness. System for the Fetish stays the same. The element must also be appropriate to who and what you are.
Types of Steps
This is how you prepare yourself and the Fetish for creation. Remember, all steps must be appropriate to the Fetish, and worthy of your rank. When writing up your card, you do not need to decide exact details (like who you are killing), just what type of step you are doing.
• Masterful Creation: collect special materials for the vessel, and do a masterful job of crafting it. (5 successes or more) If the vessel does not turn out, you will need to try again. But this adds 1 week to its minimum creation time per retry. (Cannot be repeated as multiple steps)
• Kill a worthy Foe: You have three options for this one. 1) The Foe is more powerful than you. 2) Don’t use Gifts. 3) Don’t use any Fetishes.(can also be multiple lesser foes, if there are enough) No one can give you aid during your battle.
• Mediate a Dispute: between Garou, and resolve it.
• Save the Tainted: Cleanse a thing of Gaia without use of Gifts, Rites, or Spirit aid.
• Attune the Fetish: Go to an appropriate Realm for the Fetish, and cleanse it a number of times equal to its rank, without being interrupted.
• Spirit Blessing: One of the most common of Steps. You make a deal with a spirit, and they bless the vessel with some of their “virtue”. The price for this blessing is a Ban being placed on you for 2 weeks per level of the Fetish being made. The Ban must also be appropriate to the spirit, and your rank. You cannot take a Ban to do something that you already do, or to keep you from doing something you would never do. It needs to be a burden.
• Special Step: This Step covers unusual Steps that are specific to certain Fetishes, or just very appropriate and not covered in the rest of the Steps. The Step should be impressive, and highly attuned with the idea of the Fetish. (Cannot be repeated as multiple steps)
