Brothers and Sisters; we have a problem.
We are a free society, free of the forms of repression and regression that the Camarilla forces on it's youth and the ritualized brutality that the Sabbat encourages. When we have a conflict among ourselves we have problems.
Problems we cannot afford to have.
There are threats, brothers and sisters. Threats that come from within and without. Sabbat are moving through Seattle to avenge their fallen in Madsen's war. Wala Wala is home to a nest of corruption that seaks the End of Days. And in the North we have Prince Luthias - And we all know what he is capable of.
But we are weak so long as we are separated by our own conflicts. Which means we need to resolve them!
The Camarilla uses debts, mockery, and the threat of otherwise rarely seen violence. We know violence too well Brothers and Sisters, we are the ones who struggle nightly to find our Vitae and to hold what we have because what we have is ours in its own right.
Richter is our Baron. He is our shield against the Camarilla and we must hold that shield up with a strong arm, a sure arm, an arm that will hold when the pressure comes against that shield.
To do this we need to know how we will solve our problems. I for one refuse to be told what to do by some Elder that the other Elders thinks should be some sort of arbiter of Boons.
Ladies and Gentleman, I prefer the Wager.
I used this method recently. The wager is simple. When two parties are at odds they swear an oath to resolve their difference. On the deck shall be a prize; whatever either side values. A third party, and I sincerely hope you allow one of Richter's gang to act on this, can be chosen by the parties involved to keep matters straight.
Now, what can a wager be? It should be a contest of sorts, skills pitted against skills. It should remain sporting, I.E. Don't Fucking Kill Each Other.
This is how we should handle the small shit, the bits where Party A feels like Party B was a shit talking bitch and Party B thinks party A stepped on their dick... Well, we could have a free for all between the gangs. But I'd rather you fucking don't.
Big shit, like Party A murdered a buddy of Party B: That's one you guys would be really better off turning over to Richter. The guy is smart. He likes applied mercy. Doesn't mean your boys won't get their justice, but it means that he won't be god awful capricious about it and he will just straight up kill a fucker instead of torturing them to death.
Yeah.
I'd like to take this time to point out a couple of leaders who did something right: Damian Kazinski of the Free Pawns and Gloria Buckman of the Red Paints. Seems that Chris Preston with the Free Pawns was trying to do a stunt with his motorcycle and fucked it up, sending the bike into a Red Paint bar.
Gloria took exception to this, and starting getting all over Damian. Damian was starting to express the more bad ass side of his nature when a third party suggested a Wager. Prizes were offered, and the Red Paints won. Chris cleaned up his shit, and everyone went home.
OMG's, to use the moder turn of phrase, no escalating Violence.
I like this and Richter likes this.
We need to stay united, we need to stay strong, and we need to be aware of our power. We are growing; at times it seems too much too fast. But I like this growth as it gives us the chance to excel and expand in diversity.
