This is a little bit of clarification on Lores and how they work. There are some misconceptions that are leading a large amount of people to have been running them somewhat incorrectly, and also some new rules and lores.
The full details are here: emeraldcitychronicles.com/213286/179795.html
1. Lores are never rolled.
There is never a time when you "Roll Sabbat Lore" to learn about the Sabbat. Lores are all or nothing - you know everything listed in a given level of lore, as per the appendices here:

So what if you want to learn about a specific member of the Sabbat, to know his reputation? That is a Politics roll. Difficulty of their 10-their personal and Positional Status. You can also use Clan Prestige if you are of the same clan and it results in an easier roll.
Success gets you an amount of information based on successes given.
1 success gets you their home city, and whether they are high or low status.
2 Gets you their full status by quantity and a simple statement about their reputation.
3 gets you the clan they are associated with and their status by adjective.
4 gets you their relative age and time in the sect.
5 gives you the full public story behind their status and scandals.
2. Insider vs Outsider Lores
What is the difference between an insider lore and an outsider lore, and why would I ever pay exp for an outsider lore?
Outsider lores are what mortals and members of other supernatural factions can learn about a creature type. Insider lores can only be learned by living like an insider among that clan or creature. Vampires can learn Lupine lore through contact and research. They can never learn Garou lore unless taught willingly by a Garou or living among them like one.
If the outsider lores are so much worse and less complete, why would anyone ever both paying exp for them? Answer: You wouldn't. From now on, you won't have to.
Outsider lores are now free to purchase; they cost 0 exp. You can purchase them up to 1 per week, and justify them through appropriate in game experience. For instance: Saw a werewolf for the first time: Acquire Lupine Lore 1.
They can also be taught to others for 0 exp, and the Occult Library background automatically justifies any and all Outsider Lores up to the level of the background, again, up to one per week.
At character creation, Outsider Lores can be taken to whatever level is conservatively justified by your background.
If you have outsider Lores on your sheet that you paid exp for, see us at Paper for a refund, or email it in.
3. New Lore
Lastly, I wanted to announce a new Lore up on the Lore page - Abyss Lore, for knowing and understanding the inscrutable primal darkness from which the Lasombra draw their power.
We are going to be going over all the lores over the next week or so to freshen them up, maybe add some more like above, and just generally make sure that the information there makes sense for the level presented.
