Two attractive anchors sit behind a desk at Seattle 5 News, preparing the evening report.
"Tonight's top story is following a line of criminal activity that has heretofore been unmatched in our city's recent history. This most recent breech is, in fact, a strange prison break from Monroe Correctional Complex where two comatose prisoners in the medical ward were the only escapees. Reports indicate that an unidentified woman appears to have simply walked into the facility without difficulty or forced entry. Internal documents that we have obtained state that multiple personnel were "compelled to follow her requests" and overwhelmed by an "unnatural sense of authority" and "a feeling of unworthiness" when face to face with the individual. She left with two comatose prisoners who were under guard and closely watched by outside agencies. Upon later review, security tapes showed that she was also escorted by 5 masked individuals that are not listed on any of the witness statements. Reports further indicate --"
The Broadcast is abruptly cut off, and a loud burst of static follows. After a moment, silence, and a black screen. An electronically modified voice speaks:
"This broadcast has been terminated in accordance with Article 16 of the United States Special Emergency Powers Act."
Only silence follows for the next 19 minutes. The news does not continue that evening; reruns of current sitcoms play for the rest of the programming schedule the next 12 hours.
