Fire Arm Collection.
Hello, this is Tucker Thomas with your Weekend news! The city church organizations are hosting a homeless empowering event that seems to be getting mixed reviews. For sure the community is responding actively to this, there are huge lines of people turning out for this. Many other local community members have shown up as well, to support the actions going on here.
Representatives of the Church, are trying to reduce potential crime on the street and are doing their best to connect these homeless people to progressive ways forward. Gift Cards and Food are being given to all that have a fire arm to turn in, which seems to be many of them at this time. Pistols, even a few shotguns and rifles. I did see the police help what looked to be a former military member with an assault rifle get turned in as well. Many fire arms are coming of the street, enough that I am a bit worried that we didn't know this was going on in the first place. Police and church officials seem quite pleased by the results of this action.
Many of the homeless that are involved are less enthusiastic then others for this endeavor. One was talking about how he was forced to use his gun to hold off some gang members in town just last week. There is talk about something of a turf war going on, and many now feel like they will be left defenseless on the street. When one asked a police officer about additional patrols out of this, the office replied, that with less guns on the street, it was likely they would actually reduce patrols.
I am getting news now that Sergei Omorov is coming on site, and has brought some local food carts as well. Our correspondent is saying that those trucks are apparently offering food to all here, on the Omorov Campaigns funding. He and his family are out talking to people. It looks like he’s actually avoiding cameras. I will try and fill you in if we can learn more about what’s going on here.
