"Hello, This is Jeffery Davis on a breaking news report. As I am sure many of you have heard by now, either by word of mouth or echoing noises from the street, there is violence in the streets these days. I can not say we have all the facts, but with that in mind I would like to share with you what we do have.
Sources say that there is some major conflict that has started to boil to the surface in Seattle. We have done some reporting in the past on both of these groups. First there is Los Locos, a Central American based gang that has strong family ties, born both of blood and family they have built on the streets. They have a history through out many of the major cities along the west coast. The other group however we know less about. From police sources we know their name is the Crucible, and they apparently have their meetings in sewers and other out of the way places. There are some claims they trend toward the occult or nefarious, but we can not get these beliefs confirmed.
The fights between these two gangs are popping up all through out the Puget sound, and down into Tacoma. Last Saturday there was a shoot out of the West Seattle Bridge, that even after the violence between the gang members had paused and police arrived on scene, the members of the Crucible turned their guns on the officers, forcing the use of lethal force. Fortunately due to quick police response civilian causalities was limited, and no lasting damage was done to the bridge.
We are not sure what sparked these aggressions, but this seems to be a turf war of sorts. Unnamed sources complain of vigilantes, other competition as well as other predatory acts kicking them out of their normal haunts. This has pushed them into the more mainstream lands and if my sources at shelters and outreaches are correct even more into the areas most commonly held by the homeless. While its not the best turf, apparently taking it is a better option than the others these gangs are left with.
A new organization forming out of Tacoma that is reaching though out the Puget Sound quickly given the current issues. I have with us Carlos, speaking on behalf of 'Urban Options Outreach'. Carlos, what can you offer on this situation?"
A older Latino man, likely in his mid 50's "Yes, well we have been getting a lot of information as we have been opening up and offering options to street youth. I really want them to know there is another way. We are working on gardens and urban farm settings. I found myself setting up a quality food service place, and the work that went into making sure it was everything it could be didn't really leave me time to get into the other activities that lead down a the wrong paths. I open our doors to any of the people getting displaced by this violence or that want a way away from it."
"Thank you Carlos, I am sure we will have more on this later tonight, but first there's a story about carnivorous pidgeons and their effects on the urban populations. After that a serial killer that's been electrifying swimming pools!"
