She flopped on her back, tank top drenched in sweat, into the safety net that Maggie had asked her to put in. She was breathing heavy, from lugging rope and chain all over the gym. Below her sat the usual work out and weight training equipment, but above her was her playground. She smiled as she looked at the web she had made between the rafters and the net that had replaced the floor between what had been two stories. Ropes and chains dangled from the ceiling and the rafters, and stretched across the room in various formations. She'd made her perfect playground.
The cold air from the open windows caressed her skin, giving her shivers as it hit the sweat that touched her skin through top and leggings. But she wasn't really cold. That wasn't something she really felt anymore. So the windows would stay open, at least in this room, where the others wouldn't complain about the moonlight streaming in with the winter winds. She'd put bars on them, so that they couldn't be breached by anything bigger than the wind, so she felt safe enough keeping Juliet in the house. She wasn't truly worried about her own wife and daughter. Anybody who touched Duella had another thing coming.
But the cold....the cold was amazing. Winter had finally fully bloomed, and she couldn't be happier. She'd figured out before Sahmain that she'd changed drastically, but it was now that she truly understood. She was Winter's child now, and would glory so long as it stayed. Would fight for it to continue. Summer had been so long, and she had changed with the seasons. Didn't matter that she didn't remember the Summer, she didn't need to anymore. Autumn had been fun, but Winter was where she belonged.
She flexed her toes, then began to stretch. Anyone listening could hear as her every joint popped. She rose in the stretch, bending and flexing in a single smooth movement until her fingertips stretched to the ceiling as she gripped the net with just her toes. Then her smile turned feral and she ran along the net to the wall, where she ran up to catch a rope and began to climb into the rafters.
