Help Pick the Haunted House Theme!

It's that time of year again! Let's get an early start on the Haunted House, shall we?


Step One: Pick a Theme!

Make your suggestions for the theme for this year's Haunted House! Nothing super specific (No Dr. Who, for example), and keep in mind while making your suggestion that we have a budget.

Here is an idea that I was throwing around since the last haunted house:

RAVENLOFT

Seriously, we are a bunch of monster LARPers. We have the vampires, the sorcerers, the werewolves, the fae, and all the things that go bump in the night. We even have people who probably have lots of armor and or weapon like things. If we can get approval from foam weapons like nerf swords or Aliance LARP style ones that would be even better.

The extra bit is that we can have chose your own adventure elements as well. The greater says to the group, "Welcome mighty heroes. Glad you have come we need you to help save XXXX plot device." Then as they go along some scenes have an option. In one room someone is yelling "save me save me" and the escort can save this person. Later in the 'dungeon' he changes into yet another monster and is on the loose - scaring children.

Sorry for a more than one word idea, but I think this has a lot of really cool potential. Let me know what you think?

That's a very cool idea. As for the foam weapons, they would just be used by the guide and the actors, yes? I think things would get outta hand if the kids were allowed to use foam weapons.

I like the Ravenloft idea. Set it up as an actual apparent "quest" through the horror rather than a series of unconnected vignettes.

A medieval horror 'adventure' is a great idea, though an adventure/quest storyline could be added to any genre we end up with.

As always the B&GC wants a couple of options to choose from.

I really like the "quest/storyline" approach. I've done things like that before(for much maller events) and it always goes over great and people are usually very excited because you don't see very much of that kind of thing.



The more interactive it is the better everyone has liked it. We've done things along the lines of a door that only opens if a suitable number of powerful wizards chant the spell at once, or a psychic battle of wills with a mind flayer( the actor playing the leader tells everyone to visualize a shield against the monster, the monster comes in, and tries and fails to get through the invisible shield and runs away)

Like the redneck thing. Mostly because it can be done A) Fast and B) Cheap.

The Ravenloft Adventure idea would actually... Hrm. We can network on that. Maybe pull in some of the actual armor type dudes. We know a few.

The other thought I had was 'Horror High School' - an Homage to Slasher Horror Flicks everywhere. Think 80's.

Annnnnd finally: Zombie Apocalypse; because, you know, it's a thing.

I would love something like a haunted school! Especially with the amount of kids that come through :-P
I could even, theoretically, get a recording of my daughter singing "ring around the Rosie" all creepy-like
