The Haunted House is a huge undertaking that is dramatically important to the whole of the community. Because it effects every player in Vampire (and every other sphere for that matters), the rewards for helping it are slightly inflated to make it more appealing to assist in this project. Historically, the Haunted House is actually a series of 'build days' where people get together at someone's house and build props or gather at the B&G Club to help raise tarps and map scenes.
Here are the rewards available to anyone:
Every Build Day Event is worth a Common. Someone at each event will need to report attendance to Vampire Staff.
Every official meeting (that lasts in excess of two hours) is worth a Common.
Arriving early the day of the Event will be worth an Common (Early as being defined by arriving before 4pm)
Assisting with the with Event (from 4pm on) is worth an Uncommon. (Be it an actor, a stage hand, a ninja or barker, whatever)
Assisting with tear-down is worth an Uncommon.
Assisting with the Sunday Prop Return is worth an Uncommon.
Historically, this event ends up being financially taxing as well with prop costs, make-up, etc. Generally speaking, about every $10 donated to this event in the form of materials or cash will give someone a Common, $20 will net an Uncommon.
In addition to this, certain positions will have a draw associated with them due to the stress / requirements of the task at hand:
The Producer will receive a Rare pull (due to the prolonged nature of this position)
Directors will receive an Uncommon.
The Producer will be able to designate a few individuals that they feel went well beyond the scope of their duties to assist, and request staff give them an Uncommon.
Now, here is the ONE TIME magic of the Haunted House. There is a conversation rate for all of these cards. Lets stay you really bust your hump working this event. You donate some cash, you work all the build events, you serve as a director. So, at the end of the event, you are going to walk away with a handful of awesome cards. For this event, we are allowing you to combine the cards that you have earned and trade them in for higher valued cards before you pull. Multiple players may not collectively pool their cards for higher value trade ins, but you can always trade cards after they're pulled. If you elect to draw these cards, you cannot trade them in later and trade them in. This is a one-time transaction.
Five Commons buys an Uncommon.
Five Uncommons buys a Rare.
You will not be entitled to more than one Rare regardless of your contribution (these cards are incredibly powerful).
Example:
Ben works his ass off. He's attended 10 build days. He was a Director. He worked the day of the event super early, and throughout the whole event. He assisted with Tear-Down, and showed up Sunday to deliver goods back to their home. He ended up dropping $100 of his own money out of pocket for his scene to be extra awesome. He worked. Staff calculates that he is entitled to 16 commons and 4 Uncommons. Not known for being a fool, Ben declines pulling 15 of his Commons to get 3 more Uncommons. He now has 1 Common and 7 Uncommons. He trades 5 of his Uncommons for the big prize of a Rare. At the end of the event, he gets 1 Common, 2 Uncommon, and 1 Rare.
