The work never ended. Empire's rise and fall, but they are most assuredly not built overnight.
As the lands of Ballard began to flourish, thanks to the help of 'The General', the thought of expansion was forever upon the Old Man's mind. He couldn't help it. Ballard was a home for his people, now. Not just other of his Draugr clan, but those of his heritage. Sure, they were shells of their former selves.. but it was his task once before to find new lands for them to inhabit. To bring wealth and riches. They were hard working people, but he never forgot his oath to the Gods. He would see them flourish, and now had all the tools at his disposal to do such.
The Engineer has been one of his smartest of choices. The man loved the wilderness, just as much as he loved progress. The divine mission of the Anglo-Saxons was truly in his heart, and with the assistance of Nix teaching the old man the langue of The Old Man, the pair of them constantly worked at envisioning the future of not just Ballard, but Seattle. Of Washington, and the greatness that it could and should be. This was the base of his operations to return glory to his people, and earn his way back into Valhalla, should such be even possible.
Years slipped away like grains of sand.
Always building... Always growing...Constantly on the prowl to lower the criminal element from the streets, each time they showed up.
The General suggested so many things, and he and Amgrim, with the help of Nix and The Professor, placed the right words in the right ears. He was too risky to spearhead directly the constructions that went on in Ballard, but they made sure that The General was the secret hand behind every engineering project in those lands. The museum. The docks. The residential areas of current and of the future.
This was the new land of the Vikings. While not what they once were, they would and could be something new, here. Something just as good, if not better. They could be the future, in a way that they never thought.
This was his design...
