Good afternoon cats and kittens!
So, bit of good and bad news. Good news is that game population is on the rise. Yay us! Bad news is that stretches staff a bit further.
Over the years, EC has had a problem trying to figure out just what sort of resolution they are going to have to bulky staff. The more people you cram into a room, the less you accomplish. This is an absolute fact. The British had a saying, to disarm an enemy, put them on a committee. Truth, my friends, truth.
So, over the years, staffs have either gotten huge and bloated, growing unable to respond due to their own gravity. Or, they've been light and flitting and unable to respond to game in an appropriate manner. Different approaches have been taken, like appointing Narrators or Combat Advocates. These were ok solutions, but the bulk of players had a problem trusting PCs with their stats when resolving conflict. It was a tricky balance.
This Staff is taking a different approach. We will be breaking Staff into Senior and Junior positions.
Senior Staff will be what the classic view of staff are. They will be on the email lists, they will attend meetings, they will be tapped for working system stuff, and they will be carrying a heavier burden for that sake of game.
Junior Staff will be an easier position to fill. Junior Staff will be playing NPCs exclusively. They will be rewarded with draws rather than full staff perks. They won't have to deal with the hundreds of weekly emails, the hours of meetings, or the stress of figuring stuff out on a mechanical level. They are there to help manage game and tell stories. They will be fully charged with resolving checks or running small plots, etc. However, anything they run should be able to be completed by the end of the night. (it's fine if you don't know the system super well; we'll have tablets you can borrow to read from the book )
Simple, elegant, and hopefully it will work. Here is my current demographic for Staff:
Senior-
Magic Rob
Chris S.
Brad L.
Wolf C.
Rae S.
Josh R.
Junior-
Julie N.
Moving forward, if a Senior Staffer retires, they will not be replaced with another Senior crew. I also won't be recruiting for Senior Crew. However, I will be actively recruiting for a Junior staff position, and as game inflates, I would like another Junior Staffer to join the team. I'm looking to have a resting game average of 110-120 players, and for that I'll need 2-3 more Junior crewman
Interested? Ping me.
