Vincent Price’s words rang out in the near dark room, “Somewhere in the human mind, my dear Francesca, lies the key to our existence. My ancestors tried to find it. And to open the door that separates us from our Creator.”
Light from the large wall mounted television flickered against the walls, casting foreboding shadows upon Keket as she lounged in her overstuffed chair. Her fingers swirling absently in a bowl of sanguine fluid, her eyes affectionately cast to the screen.
“But you need no doors to find god,” the woman protested, “If you believe…”
Lifting her fingertips to her lips, little crimson drops blossomed on the front of her white open robe in the wake of her movement.
“Believe? If you believe you are gullible. Can you look around this world and believe in the goodness of a god who rules it? Famine, Pestilence, War, Disease and Death! They rule this world.”
She smiled, her head rolling back slowly to let her fingers trail streaks of red down her chin and neck, the drops sliding down her pale skin between her breasts. In a graceful movement she reached out for more, holding her head high above her head to let the drops fall into her open mouth and splatter her face.
“There is also love and life and hope…”
“Very little hope I assure you. No. If a god of love and life ever did exist... he is long since dead. Someone... something, rules in his place.”
With a chuckle, Keket reached down for the bowl on the table and lifted it above her. Tipping it slowly it poured down into her mouth, splashing down her and staining the front of her white robe. One long leg stretched out and with one clawed toe curling the television blinked out, leaving the room in a ruddy darkness.
