Gang-related shooting in the First Hill District, Seattle
About 5 a.m. this morning, (Mon, Jan 12th) Seattle police received a call from a man who heard five or six shots near the O.K. Piroshki on First Hill in Seattle. Police spokeswoman Shawn Xaviar said another caller told them there were some gang members shooting at a car in the Pilllgreens parking lot.
"We got varying descriptions of suspects," she said. "We also got information that there were six to seven males running behind Pillgreens. But we got no solid descriptions of suspects.”
Police were looking for a red luxury or performance vehicle that might have been involved, but were not sure if that vehicle belonged to a suspect or possible victim. No injuries were reported. A pillar at the nearby bank was the only property damaged.
Police sources say that area is known for illegal gun sales and former Russian on Russian organized crime activity. In May of last year, an 18-year-old man was wounded in a gang-related gunfight in the area. He ran into the Bank of the West near the area, saying he'd been shot, stunning customers and employees who called police.
When asked if this indicated a response to a potential shake-up in the mob pecking order, SPD spokespeople cautioned that an investigation was underway, but it was too soon to tell.
