Police: Double homicide in Bremerton not random
Police said the two men fatally shot in Bremerton were targeted.
The two men fatally shot early, two Sundays ago in an apparent home-invasion robbery in Bremerton were targeted, police said.
Bremerton police, responding to a 911 call, arrived at the town house at 1:06 a.m. and found the wounded men inside.
The nursing supervisor at Bayview Medical Center said one man was pronounced dead during emergency surgery and the other died in the emergency room, both early that morning. Neither were initially expected to survive.
A third man inside the home was the suspected cause of the deaths. Witnesses provided police with a vague description of the three suspects, saying they were black males in their late 20s to early 30s, who wore motorcycle leathers. At least one of was armed with a handgun, according to police.
“This was definitely not a random-type crime,” he said. “This residence was targeted by the suspects because it was the home of a police officer, we believe.”
Neighbors this morning said they suspected suspicious activity at the town house, and police said “that’s certainly going to be something the detectives are looking at.”
The two officers were found dead in the upstairs hall with a couple of gunshots wounds in them, each. The next-door neighbor reported seeing a couple of black men in motorcycle leathers breaking into the place before he called local police, and some other neighbors down the street heard motorcycles approaching.
One of the assailants also broke into the next-door neighbor's house and tied him and his wife up in the bedroom, made him call the cops and tell them everything was fine, and then left them there.
Bremerton police have vowed to follow-up on the deaths of two of their own.
