Man, Wife, Child Dead After Grisly 'Canibal' Murder at U Village Home; 3 Suspects Still at Large
Police are seeking three men in a murder in U Vilage, Seattle. Authorities suspect that the allegedly deranged attackers who gnawed off 75 percent of a homeowner's face in the U District on Thursday was under the influence of a dangerous yet sometimes legal drug known as "bath salts."
Police initially said the incident was a home invasion, but later determined it was a triple homicide.
Initial investigation showed that three men entered an apartment Thursday night in the 11600 block of University Square. Two adults and one child, a 6 year old girl were inside the apartment at the time. They got into some sort of "conflagration," said Seatown County Police. "These men entered the home, we believe with the intent to eat parts of the family."
Sasaan Kaye, 24, and a witness to the attacks was able to indicate that the three men escaping the house appeared to be of Asian descent, and were covered in blood, and seemed wounded themselves, judging by a limp.
Gunshots inside the house roused neighbors to call 911. It is unclear at this time who fired the shots. Police said they have recovered some weapons at the scene.
"We believe right now that it's random," said Seatown County police spokeswoman Lacy Caldwell. "We believe noone inside the home knew the people who were coming to the home."
"Right now we believe there is any urgent public safety threat," Caldwell said.
