*Soft bell chime*
“Welcome to Imprint your place for rubber stamps how can I help you night?”
“I would like to look at your selection of wax seals.”
“Are you looking for the wax or the metal stamp sir?”
“… The metal stamp.”
“OK right this way.”
The store clerk walks almost to the back of the shop, moves a display out of the way and pulls out a small dusty box.
The store clerk holds the box at the customer like a dead cat “Here is our selection of seals.”
“I see, may I look through them to see if there is one I may use?”
The clerk looks around at the cluttered shelves and shrugs and moves some bric-a-brac out of the way and sets down the box and walks away.
The customer slowly goes through every stamp one by one.

Another X
Q
The store clerk and an assistant watch the customer with bored apathy.
The customer puts all the seals back and closes the box.
“Did you find any you like?”
“If my name started with an X I would have been a rich man indeed, alas nothing.”
“Sorry, there hasn’t been much demand for them since the postal service changed their rules.”
“Thank you for your time.”
Next shop
“Do you carry wax seals?”
The clerk looking at his electronic device says “We do.”
The customer looking around the cluttered shop turns and looks at the young person with distain and steps outside without another word.
The quest tonight to find the right wax seal to replace his last one isn’t going as well as he hoped. Checking the time he had just enough time to check one more shop before having to get back to research.
“Welcome to The Old Paper Shop, how can I help you tonight?”
“Do you carry wax seals?”
“Yes we do, please follow me. I’m sorry the selection is small but there’s not too much demand.”
“I’ve been hearing that tonight.”
“Here we are, looks to have just been restocked lucky enough.”
There it was, deep impression, not overly showy or with too much lilt to the letter. Just a perfect V in an alphabet sea.
“That one is perfect.”
He hated not having one made, however his nights were busy with research and repopulating his library. This would suffice for now.
