So, now that I have made the community aware of my desire to be the HST for our game, the next step of this is to explain to you what my intentions are, for game and the type of platform I am running.
I explained in my last post, that I felt that Rob and his staff did a wonderful job re-establishing the game, and rebuilding it from the ground up. He took an extremely firm stance and was heavy handed with most things.
I agree with how the restart was run, and his methods. 100%. As a player, and a person that a handful of other players discussed their issues with, I understand all too well how hard some of the changes that were implemented were hard to deal with, at first. A little change is hard, but an overhaul can be much much harder. But I understand why he and they did what they did and said, most times. I also understand the importance of solidifying a foundation for the game.
As such, I wish to make it very clear that I do not plan to change ANY of the key foundations that they set. Character creation will remain the same. I intend to keep the bead system. I intend to keep the card system, after a review of what cards are available by my future staff. I intend to keep the majority of how game is run, in place.
I am looking to keep things TECHNICALLY as they are, and for the most part thematically.
I also look to make the world a bit darker, and a little more dangerous.
I dont believe in the word no, unless it is used to maintain balance in the game and keep the foundations of the game structurally sound.
I plan to dive deeper into personal, city, and world politics. Seattle is not an island unto itself, and your past WILL come back to haunt you.
I am looking to streamline paperwork, so that you are NEVER waiting in line for ages. I would actually like to remove the paperwork table during game, all together, except for character creation. I want everyone playing, the moment game starts/as soon as possible.
I want to review some systems information, here and there, and while I do not wish to make a bunch of house rules, I do wish to make every house rule that is currently in place, clear and visible for all to see.
I also wish to make any and all staff "interpretation" clear and visible for all to read and understand.
I am not a dictator, and will frequently count on my staff to come to a majority decision on most issues, and will turn to the community to help with any major changes that are needed to be made or are being considered.
While I do not believe that the word NO should actually exist in staff vocabulary, after Rob's initial staff/rebuild, understand that this is a world of darkness. Reaching out into the darkness, grasping for shiny things can be extremely dangerous, damaging, or even deadly. There will always be reward, but the risk will almost always be FAR greater than the reward.
At this point and time, I have zero intentions on changing Rob's policy on magic. It will be reviewed, as I find some parts of the particular policies questionable, and should my staff/the game find such to be questionable as well, it will be further reviewed.
I have zero intention on changing the XP cap, and will not be giving out xp incentives. That is for a future staff to weigh in on, as none are anywhere near the cap nor should they be for a couple more years.
I have been working on ASTs, and while I do not believe I will be posting specifically who, just yet, I have decided I will be posting whom within the next week to two weeks.
I am happy to chat about any questions you may have. If you wish to do it in public, that is fine, but I prefer privately and I absolutely prefer face to face. I am just better, face to face, and I have no issue traveling out to chat with people, most times.
More to come.
