Hi friends!
I have only been a part of ECC for about three months. In this time, I've made some fantastic friends. I love the staff, I love the player base, and I'm fairly certain (just about) everyone loves me too. But I also know what it's like to feel bullied or pressured or otherwise 'kicked' in a roleplaying game - especially a game like Vampire: The Masquerade and other World of Darkness games where everyone - even your 'friends' - is a villain and will sometimes stab you in the back if it suits them. Roleplaying - and LARPing especially - is a very high charged, emotional experience. It's EXTREMELY difficult to differentiate between 'your character' and 'you' sometimes and I understand that, and I also understand that it's not always easy to just take a step back and breathe and remember it's just a game. Sometimes you need someone to go to, go out of character, and say 'can I PLEASE talk to you, right now? Right now?'
I want to be that person. I can't promise I'll be able to go to staff and make your problem better. I certainly can't promise to bring your dead character back, or make Staff re-roll your botch, or whatever is causing you stress. But I have no problem stepping out of game for a little while to sit down with you and listen to you. I want to help you get back to your rational place and help you figure out what you can do next.
I understand that your time is extremely valuable. We're all adults and most of us have jobs or other things we need to take care of during the week, and we are all dedicating our Saturday nights to ECC. WE ALL WANT TO HAVE FUN. If you aren't having fun, I want you to come find me and tell me why. I can't make Staff go through the Magic List faster. I can't bring your dead character back. But I can probably help you come up with some good ideas about what you can do to make your night more fun.
I am still new. I know what it's like to feel on the outside of a clique.
I know what it's like to be a player, and I know what it's like to feel screwed.
I know what it's like to be Staff, and creating an awesome, dangerous, shenanigan-filled plot while not wanting to screw over people too badly. (Come to NWoD! This has been an unnecessary plug.)
So vote for me, and I will be YOUR Advocate. I really want to help!
