My Dearest Brother,
My sincerest apologies for my delay in writing. I was not remiss, I have simply been unpacking my belongings and had not yet found my stationary. Please rest assured that henceforth you should receive a letter a week.
I have arrived safely.
The plane was a very new, very frightening experience. I think the next time I travel, I might well do so by ship. However, the selection of music you chose for me to listen to did ease some of that discomfort. I also came upon another like-minded individual who, after many pleasant conversations, also came to represent safety in my mind. He made arrangements with a resident of the city who is moderately-known in our order (who I will henceforth refer to as Rachel) and together they escorted me to the Gathering place.
Oddly enough, there was an Accounting being held that night. Thanks to Rachel, I have been welcomed into the order. Everyone kept asking me what I was good at. I found it most embarrassing to not have an answer to this question, as it is very odd, indeed, to not be much good at anything. Otherwise, much of the evening was very quiet. Considering my travels and my nerves at the time of my introduction, this was a much needed reprieve.
The apartment you have set up for me is in a very comfortable part of town. It is surrounded by steep hills (though not as steep as the ones back home) and overlooks, what passes for, the Sea. If only the buildings were white and not this drab gray, I would feel right at home. We were right to chose this city for me.
Tonight, however, I feel the wariness of experience weighing heavy on me. I do not wish to leave the confines of this small apartment.
Perhaps there are specific reasons for this feeling that I am not yet truly aware of.
I do wonder, though, brother, if you might be so kind as to lend me your retainer? Perhaps a consistent, friendly face will help to steady me.
Hoping all is well, and wishing you lots of love,
~Harmony
