I stare blankly off into nothingness.
Time passes. I don't even notice.
It doesn't occur to me that we have moved from the Gathering to home.
I don't remember when the sun comes up or when I go to sleep... but I know that when I wake, I do so only to stare into nothingness again.
How could I have been so blind to him? Especially with the gifts Malkov has bestowed upon me?
But I know how. I had been curious about the Nosferatu's true faces and tested my gifts on two of them. After learning things I'd rather not have known, I stopped using the gift... maybe if I'd used it on Blake, I would have known what he really was.
I feel the warm trickle sliding down my cheek again. I wipe it away before it can stain my dress.
I have to stop crying. It is a habit for mortals, not vampires...
From now on, I will not discriminate with my gift. I must use it to look into everyone so that I am not fooled again.
I get out a small journal. I start to write across the top, underlining each section.
I look at the all-too-common English and sigh.
What I wouldn't give to remember Greek... or Latin...
or to know more of the Italian or French I'd heard over the course of my captivity...
I will have to keep this information very private...
