# of characters in signature?

Okay, this is stupid. The boards insist I have to have 131 free characters in my sig in order to have a custom skin. I don't want a custom skin. I want my sig, which I can't change, even though the new quote I want to put in is actually shorter than the old one, because I have to have 131 characters free. What gives??

Unmodified, the board allows 400 characters maximum in a sig.

This board isn't unmodified however. I added the ability to customize your board colors. Because of the way the code works, I needed a place for the color codes to go that was unique to each user - like the sig line.

So now, 130 of those are 'reserved' for custom colors, because the custom colors code goes in the sig line whether you choose to use them or not. (that's the only area large enough to get the html hex color codes per user to fit - sorry, something had to give.)

So 400 - 130 actually = 270 max characters if you start from scratch.

314 characters are being used with your current sig which is actually *more* than the total 270 characters allowed since the addition of the custom colors patch - you just got in before the change happened.

From here on you you'll need to restrict your max sig line to 270 characters - or ignore all that and just put an image at the bottom that can contain whatever you want.

This might be the right place to ask this... why does my sig file end with an annoying ? I didn't put it there and it wont go away, even when I delete it...
