RSS for the boards

Is there some way to get an RSS feed for each of the boards? That would make it easy for me to keep up with things.

Is there some way? Probably. Do I know how to set that up? No. Could I find out? Maybe. Could I pull it off? Dunno.

Alas, it appears that RSSing the threads would be a violation of the Proboards TOS.

The reason for this is that if you don't need to go to the boards to see threads that have been updated, they get less page views. They get less page views, you care less about what you see on the boards, particularly advertisements that we 'purchase away' with Ad Free credits. It seems that Proboards feels that the less exposure you have to their boards, the less chance you would choose to purchase Ad Free credits.

They will not be making RSS available anytime soon for that reason, though it does say that they couold change their minds later.

There might be a 'client side' solution to this, like a third party program that can capture the data from the boards, but that's problematic as well, as presumably every update would require the 'bot' to create multiple page hits, and that would actually drain our views faster, increase our costs to get rid of the Ads when they began to pop up more quickly, and it's *still* against the TOS.

So it looks like we're out of luck on that one.

And of course there is the fact that few of the folks here use any kind of RSS reader. You, me, maybe a few others. The max active users I ever had on the old EC toolbar was something like 18.

Very dissapointing. I saw the title of the thread and got all excited. I think this is the only forum I don't have RSS to my live journal friend's page.

Yeah, huh? I posed the question again to the proboards staff, but there was a pretty clear 'no' based on previous discussion. Hopefully they will change their minds down the road.
