Mystical Sites: Chantries, Nodes, and Sanctums

The Backgrounds Chantry, Node, and Sanctum are powerful Backgrounds. Following is a brief description of where these things can be found in the books and what is different about them in our game.

Chantry
Book: Guide to the Traditions

• Instead of every two Chantry dots giving the Chantry as a whole to spend on one Background point. Every Chantry dot will give one dot of Background for the Chantry to use.
  
• Chantries are very difficult locations to produce, so the creation of a new Chantry is done through IC roleplay and discussion with the Storytellers about who is doing what to make your house, apartment, RV, or tree fort into a Chantry.
  

Node
Book: Mage - The Ascension
Places of power brimming with Quintessence. These wellsprings allow Mages to revitilize their Avatars and absorb free flowing quintessence into themselves. Some Nodes even produce Tass. A solid material piece of Quintessence, used in the construction of Wonders.

A Node has anywhere between 1-3 free floating quintessence per dot of node it has depending on the environment in which it resides and the amount of ambient magic surrounding it. Stress on a node from upkeep and/or the stagnation of the collective unconscious may prevent a Node from attaining its full output.

• A node's quintessence refreshes weekly.
  
• Every 10 quintessence that sits for a month (4 weeks) will solidify into a mote of Tass.
  
• First in, last out.
  

Sanctum

In accordance to above and proposed dots earlier, here's where the current chantry stands on dots:

Arcane 5
Blessing 4 (any traditionalist who needs to find the chantry will find contact information for the point of contact. Current point of contact: Travis if he's available, then Jason, then Kelly)
Compulsion -2 (Must clean up after yourself)
Resources 4 (This basically covers the random add-ons to the house: All bills related to the house are autotaken care of, heated pool, obstacle course, certamen circle)
Node 3
Allies 1 (Dimitri)
Familiar 2 (Chess)
Realm 3 (extradimensional space the size of the chantry where magic is coincidental)
Library 2
Fame 2 (within other chantries)


Curious as to what you get access to? Check your chantry level -
Chantry 0 - You can't find the house by yourself. Also, Chess is a gremlin to you. Can still find contact information for people in the house.
Chantry 1 - Immune to the Arcane of the house. There is a room available for you to live in the house rent/bill free. Chess ignores you.
Chantry 2 - Access to the Node (the Phoenix Underground currently has a similar ban on it, although there you only need Chantry 1 to get to, and FX can give you an access key to get in even if you don't have that). Chess is a familiar for you.
Chantry 3 - Contact information for the Allies of the chantry, and reasonable expectation that you'll get treated with respect. Access to the extradimensional realm.
Chantry 4 - Access to manipulate the Realm. This includes things that would require excessive magic otherwise- instead you just "ask the house" and it does it.
