Aloha and Bon Soir, it's your faithfully unfaithful favorite blushing rose, Rudy Style, and I just got the best earful from her blarney-tounged magnificence, wending her way peacefully back across the heartland from her recent visit in the Emerald City to see the new Wiz. Now, normally, when earfuls are being exchanged, I'm the one doing the dosing, but when not only could I listen to that accent forever, but the not-so-shining City on the Coast holds a personal fascination for me that some of my regular readers know of already.
Before I get to the good stuff, I have to say to those locked in the 19th century, move on with the times. BBS is the way of the future. Also, to my totally unnamed critic, you know who you are, there is no way we're breaking the big "M" here, honey. I mean you wanna go see some strange stuff, just scan the newsgroups because, while you *know* I like to be the trend setter, there is just no way to compete with the wierdos out there in cyber-space in setting the bar of unusual topics. I mean, seriously, have you ever looked at Dungeons and Dragons players?
And now, on to the good stuff...
So, unless you've been living under a rock for the last year, and I know that's not unreasonable for some, you can't help but have heard of the new CEO out there, neo aneio, as it were, who came out of nowhere and made a big stir and quite a name for himself in a real hurry with a totally agro attitude so common of a warrior-type. Now, scuttlebutt has been that the takeover in Seattle was a hostile one, and that the former big-boss was so overwhelmed, she lost her head. oops. So, there's the new big-daddy, all swagger and machismo (some fantastic material there, darlings, makes me think of Roman soldiers all oiled up... mmmm, tastey), all I'm the man, I'm so strong, I take what I want by force. Very intimidating stuff... if its true.
The story goes, the little Copperfield that was R's number 2 turned on her, sold her straight out to neo aneio, and that the new number 2 man lead the lamb to the slaughter in exchange for his new position. Seriously, how else could cranky-pantz get such a promotion? No kidding, go see for yourself if you don't believe me.
As we dig a little deeper, we find that one, JM, a wanted man at the time, was also instrumental in the takeover in exchange for the dropping of all charges against him. So, it starts to look a little less like a hostile takeover by a force of one, and more like a sneaky infiltration of the ranks... not the best way for a generalissimo to advance, but ok, one works with what one has... oh no.
Members of the board, in individual interviews with the copper-tressed maven, revealed that they had been looking for a way to push R out on a not-so-golden parachute for a while, but none of them wanted the target... i mean responsibilities of the big chair. So, when neo aneio showed up with aspirations of grandeur, it was a perfect match, they only had to remember to act like they needed bribing or persuading for about 5 minutes.
Why oh why, you ask, would they trade someone as well known as R for the mysterious man in black? Well, no mistaking that those guys love a good mystery, its in the blood if you ask me, but more importantly, R had sadly lost her mind, more so than normally I suppose, before she lost her head, and stopped providing the kind of well thought out strategy that keeps the competition at bay.
Can neo aneio be the strong backbone of the pacific northwest? Can he crush the competition? Can he provide sustainable development? Well, we say, he must be some kinda strong if he can take down the old regime in a very-not-bloody coup. Sure, sure, the board were looking for a hero anyway, but he convinced them he was the right choice, and he 'talked' some of her most loyal into acts of perfidy, not of course counting JM here, but still... that's good, right?
Think again, my faithful readers, this is what you've been hanging on for, the big one right here, perhaps under perceived threat of being called a traitor, perhaps in disappointment of neo aneio's new administration, or perhaps out of some internal sense of clawing guilt, R's number two confessed that N.A. had nothing to do with his act, but that R herself asked for it. I'll say it again for the hard of reading: R asked her own number two man to sell her down the river, *all consequences expected*. Now, I know she was a looney, but no one is that looney. Whatever her reasons, deep and unfathomable or shallow and nuts, the fact remains that the facade of strength established by neo aneio's hostile takeover is revealed as a sham.
And to top it all off, poor little rich girl Keith is in the process of being replaced, her claws, tongue and wits just aren't sharp enough, but I hear she's a dead shot with a shot, so since I don't want to worry about little red lights on my skull from rooftops, I'll say no more. I just hope her replacement is up to the task.
Will they keep N.A. as a puppet? Will they try to hush up the truth? Will he loose all respect, or can his actions make up for his lies? Will he be able to give the scarecrow a new brain and the tinman a new heart? Stay tuned for the next episode of "Emerald City Chronicles"
