New Feature: Reputation
The Reputation (or karma) feature of our forum allows other members to give each other ratings which are displayed in their mini profiles (shown at the left of each post).
You will see two options:
Approve and Disapprove
Approve is a supportive gesture, given for the following reasons: Good Writing, Helpful Post, Useful Information, Agree with Idea/post.
Disapprove is a discouragement given for the following reasons: Poor tone, Unhelpful Post, Confusing Post, Disagree with idea/post.
Any standard member may upvote or downvote any other member profile based on the above. This is common among websites with user generated content.
It is important to note that this feature is to be used to help generate a picture of online community helpfulness, it is not a popularity contest and has nothing to do with player dedication to other areas of the game.
Abuse: Constant Approving or Disapproving or trolling back through age-old posts to upvote or downvote a profile is considered abuse, and may result in a Warning.
The Reputation system shows who helps out on the forums and who does not on a scale of -100 to +100 (zero is neutral/no one has voted). A high Reputation shows that the member likes to help out when they don't have to. Reputation is most useful when everyone participates, so that the loudest voices do not win out. Reputation helps find troublemakers who may abuse certain areas of the forums. The Karma system details are saved in the profile logs, so it's quite easy to see abusers.
