San Francisco, 2008
A light rain fell from the sky, and Jacob walked alone down the San Francisco sidewalks. The water clung to him, held him, consoled him. He loved the rain. It had been his only friend since he had told Aislinn about his other self, the troll, the Starbreaker. For about three months now, Jacob, who was Ulrim, had no one but Cineris and the rain. Then, two days ago, out of nowhere, Ulrim had a message waiting for him on the answering machine.
Hey Jake... It's Aislinn. Listen... I'm sorry I flipped out like I did. Look, I want to meet. I want to talk. How about we meet at the park on Friday? Six o'clock. I'll... I'll see you then.
Cineris had told him it was a bad idea. Told him to walk away, and not look back; but Ulrim was a troll, and a stubborn one at that. Ulrim rounded the gate in to the park with a meaningful stride. Elisia had also been very concerned, but she had kept her peace, simply advising him to be very cautious. The wind through the trees played a haunting stormy melody, and the gray skies laid an ominous mood over the scene.
In perfect, beautiful, contrast stood Aislinn in the rain. Her tears were indistinguishable from the rain. She waited for Ulrim to be about twenty feet away, and whispered, "I'm sorry..."

A hotel in downtown Seattle, Tuesday, October 26th.
Ulrim awoke with a smile. It had been an amazing evening, filled with passion and lust. He hadnt felt this amazing in a very long time. The Pooka had left, and this didn't concern Ulrim. Such were the ways of Pooka... And she had warned him that she was migratory in nature. He sat up and stretched, reaching for his wallet with his room key. His search was in vain.
"Cineris? Hey bud, have you seen my wallet?" He called, to his chimeric flame companion. "Cineris? ...Cineris? Where are you?"
