The children of Hummingbird sat quietly at the edge of the Bawn, looking at each other with a hint of sadness. Their trip through the stars had yielded many strange and varied gifts. Perhaps the strangest was the shard of ice held by the Beta. It was ice and metal at once, so cold it would burn flesh, yet cast off no water. Strange ice, a gift from the heart of Aries himself.
The world looked different here, as if the colors had altered slightly. Red was more vibrant, green was muted, black had nearly a glow. Without thought, the Ali'i turned his gaze skyward, picturing the final moments of Rorg before the innumerable hordes overtook him. To see such strength chipped away by insects...
Lightbringer shudders and turns his gaze to Carries the Burden.
"You are certain that this is your path, then?" his tone was growling, as always, but touched by unfamiliar hesitancy and regret. "This quest cannot be completed here? The Pack cannot help you so far beyond."
The Silver Fang paused a moment as if to voice reconsidering. But his brow furrowed slightly, and he shook his head. "No. General Winter is strongest in the Motherland, and only he can advise me further in this quest."
He patted the leather wrapped satchel hidden within his coat, "You said it yourself; we can't turn away from the wish of a Celestial."
For a moment, the Ali'i knows rage and the colors shift again, kissed by fire and chaos. But the moment is fleeting. In his soul, he knew the words of his Beta were true.
"Be safe, then, Carries the Burden, Philidox of the Silver Fang. We will escort you no further, as this quest is yours. But should your own burdens be too heavy to bear, call and we will fly to you on wings of destruction," as his jaw clamped shut, his teeth started grinding quietly again. The Silver Fang did his entire tribe proud as he smiled, nodded, and offered his hand.
"I'll be back, Alpha," he says. There is a brief embrace, then he turns to summon a moonbridge. Only a soft whine sounds from Marks the prey among the Pack. From their vantage at the edge of the Bawn, a silver glow can be seen, then nothing.
Lightbringer nods once, then silently turns to leave; there were still patrols to be done this night.
