Hey, everyone. I'm very excited to post this, and hopefully you guys will be at least a little excited (or least not scared) after reading.
I've applied with the HSTs of the spheres to run as an HST in this election. To be fully transparent, this is my first time as an HST of an ECC sphere, but despite that, I have some qualifications I'd like you all to consider:
- I've been an AST for you all for the last 6 months, focusing on plots that connect you Mages to the world around you. I've tried to make sure every person I interact with in game is acknowledged to be their own tiny, bright island in the sea of people that exist in the WoD, and how their actions, emotions, and trials cause ripples that affect others. It's a big part of why I stepped up to be an AST: to tell stories that change your characters' lives.
- I first played Mage at ECC in early 2008, when a lot of the meta-plot that's routinely talked about was in full swing. Thus, with this background, I've made a point to absorb every tidbit about the tapestry we've created together since Broney rebooted the sphere. Because of this attention to detail, I hope that my plots, stories, and little tidbits will leave their mark on our history, but not stand outside it awkwardly: I want everyone who walks in to remember a great story they took part in.
- I've been involved in ECC for a little over three years, starting in Vampire (where I served as a paper AST during Chris Schetzle's run as HST), and moving to Mage as an AST this year. But my time in Vampire was not misspent, and I learned a lot of valuable lessons: No player falls through the cracks or is ignored.
- I was careful to choose staff who have contributions that everyone will benefit from. Lily has been HST of this sphere in the past, and has provided much-needed grounding and personal relationships to the Mages. Lee is stepping up because he's got the core of the setting in his heart; cerebral, mysterious, properly dark. He's a boon to this sphere, and I'll look forward to him teaching hard lessons to every PC that would let him.
- Lily and I are both well-versed in the paperwork that running an ECC sphere entails. Phil has done fantastic work with the bookkeeping, and I hope that we can continue that tradition.
- I want to encourage players to abuse the digital age. Emailing the STs will guarantee a response from me. If not me, Lily. And you'll know within 24 hours if we have an answer, or if we need to discuss it. We all have lives, so I want email to be a transparent option for us all to use to communicate.
Now, with a major in-game shakeup having already occurred, I hesitate to leap into what my plot plans for the sphere are. But I have a few non-specific goals:
- To focus on the world around the Mages; both the Sleepers, and the political climate that's left to them post-truce.
- To encourage personal challenges, allowing players to grow both in and out of Seekings.
- To make sure that every player in the sphere gets a story that they want to be a part of.
If elected, one of my first actions will be to poll each player individually, and determine the path that they see before their PC. I want to know how to help you walk down that path, and do so in a way that keeps everyone entertained. Otherwise, why are we coming to the B&GC?
Thank you all for considering me for HST, and if this was a tl;dr situation, I'll sum it up:
I want to be HST to make sure you ALL have fun.
Thank you.
