Mat sits alone at a desk in his bedroom. An assortment of knives spread out before him along with a notebook and a pen. He picks up the pen and starts to write.
So the doom is gone... for now. Apparently Rene has more faith in me than I thought. As do a lot of others I didn't know about. The Baroness seems to like me well enough, as does Count Kara-Murza.
That's the big one, first he's all "Our past isn't good so I think I might kill you" then he's all, "We're coo, for now. I don't hate you all that much. You made a good show of faith last week. So you're off the hook. Here, work for this guy." And then tonight... all I have to say about that was, wow.
Which brings me to Ulrim. He's a good guy, don't get me wrong. But something about him bugs me. I don't know what he thinks of me and he seems to have some issues with Sheila. Now that I'm his appointed Knight he'll probably set me off to some shit job or something. You never can know with some of the higher ups with Dougal. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love Sheila to no end, and I'd do anything for her. But Vegas' Dougals hated me. Probably for what I did to her... hmmm. We'll see.
He lets out a deep breath and then continues.
Anthem finally got her fae groove on and... something about her, she's one of my kith and that means a lot. I can teach her. Nissa might want to, but more than one of us can do a lot. I mean, Nissa's got a lot on her plate with helping Johnny and she's still trying to get me to teach her... something, I don't even bloody remember. It'll probably come up again. But Anthem's a knight of something and as a Knight myself, I need to teach her what she needs to know. Maybe she can be of my House, the Creator knows we need more of us in this County. Another cog in the machine, as Sheila would put it I think.
So many questions and only time will tell me anything more.
He sets the pen down and looks at his work. The text isn't English. It appears to be what some would think of if they saw Ancient Norse rune. He sighs and closes the notebook. The knives stay on the table as he walks away.
