So, here's the official post saying "I'm crazy enough to go for this."

I have a wonderful team of people that have offered to join me in this crazy venture. Those people would be Phil Brown and Justin Gallion. Elspeth has offered to do paperwork for 1 hour a game as well to make our lives nice and easy too.

A few thoughts on how I would see the world of Mage...

My concept of Mage is a more fantastical world not steeped in realism. Let me translate that so it is less scary sounding...Just because it's that way in the real world, does not mean it's that way in our game world. There are all these beings out there with all kinds of strange powers that are creating things, stopping bad things, /causing/ other bad things. You might see things that you at first look at and say "We'd never see that in the real world..." In my opinion, that is part of the essence of Mage.

Now, with that statement in mind, I want to follow it up by saying I also want to focus on the mundane. Not every problem has a big bad thing behind it. So many of the challenges a mage can face can come from sleepers. I'd like to see this explored more.

A fair number of people that have seen me ST in the past know that I am a guy that likes to build some kind of big meta plot and fill in the gaps as we go through it. I can't promise I won't do that. *chuckle* But, what I can say is that I want to find room for the individual plots that the players bring to the table. That isn't to say that there won't be plots brought in to the game to make sure there is something to do should people want it...but I think there is some excellent things people want to have their characters do all on their own already, and I don't want to stifle that.

So, there's at least the start of my thoughts. I welcome any and all questions (for both myself and the staff I'd be bringing with me). Thanks!

*edit* And it has just been called to my attention that, the weekend of the 30th of this month, and the week we vote (August 6th I believe) I will be on vacation in Yellowstone....*chuckle* So, there's the heads up on that one.

So as most of you know I've been HST for Mage a couple times and I've staffed for most of the games that I've played in at some point or another. So I have a list of experience that will help me deliver an enjoyable game to you folks.

My particular interests for Mage lie in the mundane world that the various characters have all but left behind. There are still family members, community leaders, old flings, and other interesting npcs who interacted with your character to form them into what they are today. Now imagine what it would be like if those npcs came back again and the PCs were forced to hide their nature. That's what I'm going for.

I'll be throwing things at you people left and right that will, at the same time, appear "normal" and challenge the characters to make decisions about how to involve their various Sleeper relations. Keep in mind that if your character knows anything about the Protocols, then they know that it's a big no no to just go telling all your Sleeper friends and relatives what you really are

I'm also a big fan of consistent but flexible rules for challenges. If you're having trouble coming up with a way to stay in the action based on your stats, I'll do what I can to make sure that your hard earned dots will mean something. But once I come up with a balanced method of doing something or making a particular call, I will likely write that down and share it with the other staff so that we can all maintain that same experience. In the end though, every single scene can have vastly varied rules due to the thematic elements and the drama I'm trying to portray, so if I decide to change a ruling on a scene to something unexpected, it's most likely because I'm looking to change the feel of the scene or add some extra tension to the roleplay, not take advantage of my ST powers and "win the scene"

Hello again. My hat, my nose, my jacket, and myself have been storytellers for our wonderful sphere for quite a length of time, and the break was appreciated. After about a year or so off, its nice to be getting back to the story surrounding our colorful characters. A lot of things have changed, some things have been forgotten, and a lot of things haven't been told yet.

What I will be bringing to the table is the dark and fantastic, a little bit of sorrow and madness from the shadows Adam will be casting. Challenging the lives of the powerful and new alike will be my overall goal, and there are a lot of tools at my disposal. Adepts and hopeful masters need to be poked in the gut too.

Plenty of things to do, plenty of stories to bring to life, and a fluid blending of minds to do it all. Through Phil's organized continuity skills, Adam's spontaneous storytelling style, and my propensity for running wild with stuff I'm presented with, I am positive that there will be something that appeals to everyone.
