Last night, despite an awesomely large attendance at game, we raised $33 in donations. The week before that, we raised $70. To put this in perspective: that's about $100 between 2 out of 4 Saturdays in April. April's rent cost us $700. Yea... that's a problem.
Please, please, remember to feed the pig. I don't think I need to go into a long diatribe about why this is important, because it is not the first thread on the issue, but it is a serious issue again. Every once in a while we get a more meager week, but this is two terrible weeks in a row, which leads me to believe people need a reminder... especially as we go into the summer, when there is no pig table. What we end with is pretty much where we stay.
We DO have enough to make rent for May, but not much else: not enough to pay our other obligations through the summer (like the website), not enough to replenish the snack bar. We'd need $1400 (rent x 2) in the bank to do these things. After paying rent for May, we will have $400 the bank. That means, we'll need to raise about $300 over our goal for next month if we want to pay our bills this summer and make sure we have enough cash to go back inside in the fall.
Kaine is back from China which means the snack bar is going to be here next month, and in addition to being an often-requested service many game attendees missed over the past few weeks, another disappointing truth may be that it's the only way a lot of people remember to donate to the pig is if they buy something and feed the pig the change.
We have one more month of active piggy heckling. Please do your part to ensure we have enough bacon to get us back into a warm space to play next winter. This is a responsibility we all share as a community: when everyone pitches in what they can we reap the rewards, but when everyone defers to someone else because they assume they're taking care of it nothing happens.
