As I announced last game, I will be stepping down as HST in early-mid November. I would like for November 10th, 2012 to be the date of the election so I can stay on and help as much as I can for a few weeks afterward. This date has been chosen to give those who may choose to run for HST as much time as possible to prepare & not result in an election being scheduled on top of the Haunted House, while still allowing the staff members with out-of-game obligations that are necessitating this change to keep those obligations as best as possible.
Why is this happening?
Erik’s original plan was to stay on staff for a 6-month term, Denise is choosing to leave in the November-December time frame, Mark has started being scheduled to work on Saturdays and Sarah can’t run this on her own.
Can’t Sarah just find new staff members to replace the people leaving?
Not really. I picked this staff because, well, I wanted these people to be on my staff. Other people I would have asked (or asked previously) are either burned out, have their own out-of-game stuff going on which would make them unable to regularly attend meetings or game, or are people I consider to be good Storytellers but have a different vision of “how things work” that wouldn’t necessarily make for a smooth transition.
How will this change plots?
I am going to try my very hardest to keep things business as usual. I am not jumping for joy over the fact that this is the way things need to be, and I would rather bring you my very best while I’m here than run this thing into the ground. We’re still working hard on your plots, working hard on fun things to surprise you with, and working hard on the camping trip we have coming up just around the corner.
Thank you all for your patience and support through this transition. Also, I heartily apologize for having to break my commitment to you all a few months early.
