More than a few people have asked me if there is a possibility that Vampire can stay at UW and not go back to BG&C.
Apparently this is something that people have spoken about for some time and has even been tried before with some success, but I feel it isn't for me to decide this sort of thing.
The plan for staying at UW would involve some steps taken to make it habitable for us in the cold. Some generous players have offered to purchase an array of patio heaters to place in the upstairs area of the site, and combined with some drapery and curtains hung over the open window areas to reduce the wind chill. Apparently, so long as we don't get lazy on the curtains and other setup precautions, it is warm enough even in the winter to remain comfortable. This does mean we lack for dedicated bathrooms, but we do make do the rest of the year with what we have as well.
I don't have experience first hand with how comfortable this is or isn't or how much setup time this requires. One possible advantage is that if people are going through the deliberate step to perform some amount of setup and decoration, it isn't that much bigger of a deal to set up additional things like tables, chairs and other decorations we may want to put up to improve the game site. If that were the case, we can offer something to those who make an effort to beautify the site and help the game get more moody.
Another concern though is Werewolf and the other spheres. While we may want to stay, if Werewolf or the other spheres want to go, that means they may have trouble paying for BG&C all on their own, and the upstairs site we would use isn't large or segregated enough for both games. This could cause a problem if other spheres are tied to our decision, it may endanger their own concerns.
Further, I think whatever happens we should definately still do the Haunted House because rent break or not, it would be cruel to back out now and we'd burn that bridge in case we changd our minds come December.
I want to open discussion here, because our scheduled time to go to BG&C is October 6th, the game after next, so this Saturday is our last official game at UW, according to schedule. Whatever we decide, we need to do it right away. I will also be talking about this during opening announcements at game on Saturday to see if we can put some kind of concensus together.
Please discuss your opinions here and let others know this thread exists so we can hammer out as much of this as possible.
