“I'm not interested in preserving the status quo; I want to overthrow it.”
- Niccolo Machiavelli
- Niccolo Machiavelli
Seattle has been a bastard child of the Camarilla for decades, mocked for our frontier mentality and regarded as utterly unstable, a fact caused more by internal strife than any outside force. So I am proud to tell you that opinion is changing. Our last harpy instituted mandates upon status that for good or ill drew the attention of the world and shocked us out of our frontier mentality. Finally we were seen as a domain that sought to uphold the significance of status.
I will not allow our Domain to succumb to complacency, now that we have been awakened. I shall be codifying the requirements of status, the obligations of prestige and enforcing the pre-stations of our society. These obligations shall be dictated by us, not to us. No foreign domain has the authority to dictate our opinions, nor will I allow them to. We will hear them and that is all.
To aid in this mandate, I shall be clarifying past accepted opinions and defining behavior that is expected from all our denizens, below are but the first few.
Clarifications and Definitions
When it comes to loaning your status to another of the domain, I recommend you are specific in the reasons you are loaning such, for if the individual for whom you have loaned status performs a scandalous act under the purview of the loaned status you shall be stripped of the specified standing for your indiscriminate support. This is not a change to previous policy, more of a reminder that it shall be enforced stringently.
In regards to Kindred of high standing (over 4) arriving for the first time in the Domain, while previously they were stripped of status upon entry, to discourage those who would come here for less than reputable reasons. While the intent of this decision was just, its implementation was poor and shall be changed.
No longer shall a new arrival be assumed guilty upon entry and stripped of standing, though they shall be judged, as all who reside here. No matter the standing received in foreign lands, no matter who may have granted it, any who reside in our domain, who does not prove through service or deed to be worthy of the standing they hold, shall be stripped in accordance of the opinion of the domain.
One’s status is not a stagnant creature; it must be fed regularly to maintain its strength. Ask yourself when was the last time you did something you are reputed for. If it has been nearly a year, are you still worthy of being known for such? The answer is NO. So take this opportunity to think of some way you can prove you’re continued worth to the domain.
Serve as an officer, deputy or assistant, defeat its enemies, improve the health of its kine, bolster its economy, fortify its borders, or teach a struggling kindred to prosper - there are many ways to improve the domain. Standing comes from service, and those who do not serve, or provide service shall find the domain viewing them as less valuable.
That being said, as was done before I shall be scrutinizing every member of the domain to determine if they are worthy of the standing they hold, and judging accordingly. If you have doubt in your mind that you are doing enough, then you likely are not. If you feel you are, then pride likely blinds you, and I shall open your eyes.
I am the voice of the Domain, what you will, I shall create, invoke and enforce.
