Hi Emerald Chronicles players and staff,
I have a bit of exciting news. I was recently contacted by two casting directors from a Reality show called The Quest, which is being produced by Mark Wardefsky, one of the executive producers of the Lord of the Rings.
They are interested in geeks with a cospay/fandom/LARP background that are interested in being cast in an Amazing Race style show (another show that their production company Profiles Television produces) that is based on the Lord of the Rings.
According to Mr. Gordon they are interested in earnest people with real heroism inside them willing to get into costumes and not act better than the content - he went on to specify this is not meant to be a sarcastic or comedic 'looking down' take on LARPers or fans, which is guided by Mr Wardefsky's vision of the show. They are looking for people that are really into this stuff.
Paul Gordon and Tammy Nguyen would like to meet the 'cast' of Emerald Chronicles and speak about their project and about what taking part in it would entail. They arrive in Seattle on Thursday the 25th and would like to come to the LARP around 9PM Saturday the 27th for a brief tour of the games and to meet the players and speak about the project and what they are looking for.
This is a brilliant opportunity for our LARP to gain national attention and for a few lucky participants to perhaps even take part in a ground breaking serious competition to find, as Mr. Gordon put it 'a real hero' among geeks of our stripe. They are specifically looking for people not at all shy about getting into costume, and I suspect those that embody adventurous spirit of the LOTR trilogy.
Before I extended to them a specific invite, I heard any concerns the Storytellers may have with this. Mainly what they were concerned about was that there might be some jockying for attention and 'hamming' for the camera that could hurt feelings or become too 'hollywood crazy'. I share these concerns a bit.
Mainly this is just an opportunity to get into our best costumes and be friendly with these folks and display some of the traits that our community is good at - participation, friendship, fun and dedication to our growing hobby.
If someone should be chosen to participate in the show, they would be a real ambassador to our hobby for the outside world, and would need to exemplify the traits that we identify with the stalwart Hobbits, adventerous, loyal firends with a hero's heart! (and not just in a box, vampires. )
If you wish, you may also read their flyer and fill out the questionnaire, but the casting folks are more interested in meeting us face to face and learning about our hobby and us as individuals in person.
If you don't want to be possibly filmed and have no interest in meeting the casting folks, simply make your self scarce for that between game time from 9-10ish.
Our Journey starts Saturday the 27th at 9PM!
